past year at prestigious international conferences in the Oman, Norway and USA - they are
listed in reverse order.
In addition, The Economist newspaper
recently published a letter on the management of safety
on the UK railways, based on Tallrite's
Oman paper.

"Relationships & Passion", IADC Drilling Middle East 2000
Conference, Muscat, Oman, October 2000. This annual event is an annual
gathering of drilling professionals from, or servicing, the Middle East, which the world's
most intenstive drilling market. It is organized by the International Association of Drilling Contractors, and the
somewhat cryptic theme of this year's conference was "Perfecting
Performance People, Practices and
?". The conference
suggested that the missing word was "Passion". Each year
a different Middle Eastern venue is selected for this gathering, usually in the
Gulf. |
| "Maximising Safety Performance Despite the
Client/Contractor Relationship", 5th SPE International Conference on
Health Safety & Environment in Oil & Gas Exploration & Production, Stavangar,
June 2000. This conference, whose theme was "Progress through sharing
values", was the fifth bi-ennial gathering of the entire world-wide oil &
gas exploration & production industry to discuss HSE. Organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, which is the industry's
international representative body, this year's conference also attracted, in addition to
over a thousand industry delegates, distinguished speakers from the World Wide Fund for Nature, the World Bank, Greenpeace,
the Red Cross and academia. The keynote address
was delivered by President Olusegun
Obansanjo of Nigeria, who made a state visit to Norway especially for the occasion.
This conference venues rotate between industry centres in Europe, the Far East,
North America and South America. |
