Safety
is for real !
"Getting hurt is part of the business"
"There was nothing we could have done to prevent it"
"He brought it on himself"
"It's not our fault"
"It was an act of God"
How often such phrases are uttered when we hear on the news that someone has been hurt
or killed in an industrial accident.
But usually those close to the accident or involved in the chain of command feel a deep
sense of personal responsibility, even guilt, for not having done something - anything -
to avert the suffering endured by the victim.
The good news is : ACCIDENTS ARE NOT
INEVITABLE.
The uncomfortable news is : THEY ARE THE RESULT OF ACTS OR
OMISSIONS OF LINE MANAGEMENT.
Effective management of safety will dramatically reduce injuries and deaths in a
demonstrable fashion. People will go home healthy to their families who would
otherwise not.
The responsibility of line management for the safety of the workforce is awesome.
Tallrite can help you develop and
implement a safety management system that works.
How Tallrite can help
Tallrite will work closely with your management team to help you to develop :
The principles of a safety management system (SMS) for your business;
Indicators to measure whether your safety is improving or getting worse (it never stays
the same);
A safety plan based on the SMARTI principle (Simple,
Measurable, Attainable, Realistic,
Time-based, Impactful);
A communication plan to involve all your staff;
A system for periodically auditing the extent to which your business is implementing
your safety plan.
We can also help you to :
Investigate accidents and near misses to determine their underlying causes and develop
recommendations, either leading or participating in the investigation team;
Troubleshoot particular safety problems or situations in order to develop remedial
measures.
Capabilities
Our staff have many years of experience in safety management. This has mainly
been gained in the very hazardous oil and gas exploration and production business in
various parts of the world - in jungles, deserts and seas as well as urban areas.
The paradox of hazardous industries is that they are forced to practice sophisticated ways
of managing safety and as a result they often end up with better safety performance than
other industries. See, for example, the accident rate of the global Oil & Gas
Drilling Industry compared with other heavy industries.
At Tallrite, we believe passionately that
:
Tallrite, using the sophisticated
approaches to safety management of one of the most hazardous of industries, can help you
improve your company to better the best safety standards of your own industry. Is it
really fair to your workforce to be worse than the best?
